The Hosts
Hosts Sam and Breanne Austen have spared no expense in making Rose GPO Hotel an iconic jewel of the Peninsula, which radiates a sophisticated and stylish flair and a lustrous appeal with its lavish décor and chic ambience but is proudly unpretentious and offers competitive value. Both have worked for many years in hospitality and most recently owned a successful hotel in Yea however decided on a 'seachange' and settled in Rosebud.
Rose GPO Hotel changes from a casual cafe in the morning, into a sassy restaurant of an evening; and later into an intimate bar, brimming with the buzzing vibe of people out for a night out in an appealing venue. The hotel offers many areas to unwind. Settle in the plush couches matched with comfortable cushions; rustic chandeliers & tables topped with fresh flowers (owner Breanne is also a florist) create an eye-catching setting at the rear of the hotel; the front offers a bright and airy appeal; or the quiet, cosy area in front of fireplace, is perfect for a chilly evening. The alfresco area out front is the most popular area – upmarket furniture including high tables and chairs and large market style umbrellas with a large maple tree in the centre offering more than ample shade on a hot summer's day. Live acoustic music is a feature of the weekends and well known artists such as James Vincent, Josh Roydhouse, Simon Dodd and band President Roots, Lisa Edwards and Michael Christiano are frequent gigs at the GPO.
The Staff
The staff at Rose GPO offer inviting, ever-smiling and efficient service, ensuring your dining experience is nothing short of perfect. The weekend Breakfast Menu offers all the favourites from Bircher Muesli to The Jamie Oliver Breakfast – bacon, egg, onion, mushroom, tomato and chipolata sausage all on top of toasted Flinders Bread, excellent value at $17.00. The menu displays Rose GPO's consideration to today's economic climate – offering "The Recession Buster Lunch" – a "daily special" with either a glass of house wine or a pot of Boags Draught – all for only $16.50.
The Chef's Specials are changed every 3-4 days and the menu changes seasonally. A Lunch Menu is on offer also ranging in price from $8.00 to $23.90. The Hotel's speciality is Spanish Paella and is a real crowd pleaser. The GPO Parma – thick and juicy chicken breast crumbed and topped with Napoli, Virginian ham and melting cheese, served traditional with chips and a side salad. Additionally Seniors are well catered for with a 1-2 course lunch with a free coffee all for $15.00!
The Chef
Their talented Head Chef, Dylan Conroy is Ex "Elmer’s of Yea" and the "Boardwalk Bendigo". Wayne Oliver is ex head chef at Dromana Estate and boasts 20 years in the industry at some of Melbourne and the peninsula’s best foodie venues. Both chefs are well travelled and experienced in offering superior food at fabulous prices.
